Compare premiums 2026
Frequently asked questions
Are the benefits worse with a cheaper health insurer?
No. The catalogue of benefits of compulsory basic insurance is defined in the Health Insurance Act (KVG) and is identical for every insurer. What differs is the price, the service and the insurance model you choose — not the medical treatment you are entitled to.
Where do the premiums on this site come from?
From the official dataset of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH), published on opendata.swiss. These are the same figures the FOPH uses on priminfo.admin.ch: every single premium has been approved by the authorities. We neither convert nor round them.
Why is the same insurer more expensive in the neighbouring municipality?
Switzerland is divided into premium regions — up to three per canton. The region follows the municipality, not the postcode. That is why we ask for the municipality when a postcode is ambiguous: 270 of roughly 3,200 postcodes lie in more than one premium region.
What do the family doctor, HMO and Telmed models mean?
They are models with restricted choice of doctor: you undertake to contact a defined point of care first — your family doctor, an HMO practice or a telemedicine service. In return the premium is lower. Your entitlement to benefits stays the same, and the restrictions do not apply in an emergency.
Does the comparison cost anything, and do I have to give my details?
The comparison is free and requires neither registration nor contact details: you see every premium in your region after entering only your postcode, year of birth and the options you want. We only need contact details if you ask for advice yourself.
